Our Public Water System has no Lead, Galvanized Requiring
Replacement (GRR) or Unknown Service Lines

On October 16, 2024 MassDEP approved COMM Water Department’s request for approval to release a statement that our system has no service lines of Lead, Galvanized Requiring Replacement (GRR) or unknown materials. This statement is based on the results of a service line inventory that was developed using the following verification method(s):

  • Field Inspection by PWS
  • Records Review
  • Statistical Analysis
  • Customer Self-Identification
  • Sequential Monitoring
  • Other(s) MassDEP-Approved Method(s):

Disclaimer: This statement is based on the initial service line inventory for our system as required by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Lead and Copper Rule Revisions. This statement does not take into consideration the presence of unknown or lead service line connectors. A gooseneck/pigtail/connector is defined as a piece of pipe typically not exceeding two feet in length that connects the water main to the service line or the service line to the water meter of a building.
